One More Day Left to Get Emberglow Tickets
One more day. Ticket sales for Emberglow 2026 close tomorrow, Monday, October 19th, just before midnight. If you’ve been circling this weekend and waiting for a sign, this is it.
A Weekend for the Season of Descent
Emberglow is a three-day, two-night communal camping retreat, and this year it runs October 23-25 at The Burrow Nature Center, home of the All You Need Institute in Lumberton, Mississippi. We hold it at Samhain, when the veil thins and the year turns toward darkness.
This is a very different event from the Wyld Fire Beltane Hunt. During Emberglow, we don’t hurry past the hard things. Grief, loss, endings, and death are part of every life, and most of us are given very little guidance for facing them. Emberglow is a curated weekend that offers some. Every ritual, circle, meal, and fire is meant to walk you through the dark rather than around it. Death isn’t the opposite of life. It brings rest to the weary, turns the soil for new growth, and joins us to the cycle of rebirth. When we are willing to meet it, something in us can change.
How the Weekend Unfolds
Opening Rite: Connection and Sovereignty with Pocket Traci. Our opening gatherings include playful games built on mutual consent and “harm to none,” and on bringing your own tools for caring for yourself. Come physically comfortable and curious.
Circle of Lament. Our grief circle is led by Kezia Vida, a mental health counselor with an MS in Counseling, and Sable Switch, a certified grief educator. It is a held, supported space to bring whatever you are carrying.
Samhain Ritual. I won't provide a ton of detail here; suffice it to say that death is invited into the circle, and that no one has to face her alone.
The Ancestral Altar. In the pond temple, we will tend an altar to our dead. Bring photos, mementos, flowers, and offerings to place there, and visit as often as you need over the weekend.
Mummers Play. On Saturday night we gather for the Mummers Play, an old tradition of folk theater tied to death and renewal. You’re invited to take a role, so come ready to play.
Workshops and Classes. In Broom Renewal: The Making of a Samhain Broom, we will re-dress an old wedding broom with new broomcorn, straps, and adornments. We will then anoint and smudge it, and it becomes our communal Samhain broom, which clears away the old for the whole community. Bahia Nightengale will guide us to Eat the Season, attuning to the cycles of nature and sourcing from local farmers as we celebrate the harvest. We will also offer Death & Decay: The Composting Way, where the lessons of decay and renewal get practical, led by Jordan Bantuelle. Helen Hobart will guide us through modern funeral practices at our Death Cafe.
Making Jack’s Bed. This year’s Beltane Oak King, Georgi Gardiner, will be laid to rest at the roots of the surrounding pines after her summer reign. Her energy returns to the Earth to rest and rejuvenate. With Stephanie C. accompanying on guitar, all of us can join this funeral rite to honor the Oak King, our loved ones, and anything in our own lives that needs to pause, stop, or rest.
Food, Fire, and Fellowship
We believe grief is easier to carry when we are fed and warm. We have planned the meals as part of the experience.
On Saturday night, our potluck centers on a dish inspired by someone you have lost. Cook something your grandmother made or something your friend loved, and share the recipe with us. To keep things welcoming, please keep gluten, dairy, and pork on the side, and we lean vegetarian. Throughout the weekend, our kinship meal providers will keep us nourished, and we will keep the coffee bar going for early mornings.
And of course, there will be bonfires. Some fires are for warmth and storytelling, and some are for sitting in silence, watching the embers glow.
The Land
The Burrow Nature Center is 111 acres of beautiful, serene, well-preserved land, founded by Jordan Bantuelle, who has run a Forest School there since 2020. The All You Need Institute is directed by Jordan Bantuelle and Kezia Vida. Pine woods, open fields, and the pond temple give the weekend a setting that holds you.
Please note: all on-site accommodations have been rented. You will need to bring your own tent and camping supplies. Emails with full details on what to bring, along with the weather forecast and check-in information, has been sent to all ticketed attendees.
Join Us Before Midnight Tomorrow
Come ready to set something down, and leave carrying something new. Tickets are available through our website until just before midnight on October 19th. Review the ticket tiers there and choose the one that fits you.
We hope to see you in the circle.
